Winifred Marie (Beeman) Flessner

Winifred Marie (Beeman) Flessner died on Nov. 4, 2025, in Chattanooga at the age of 100.

The oldest daughter of Burton Andrew Beeman and Anna Marie (Rader) Beeman, she was born in Frankfort, Michigan on August 27, 1925. She wed Lloyd William Flessner in Lansing, Michigan in 1950 and was married for over 70 years before the death of Lloyd in 2021.

She worked as a secretary for the state of Michigan, for her church and for Michigan State University before retiring in 1989. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church in Lansing before moving to Lakeland, Florida in 1989. She later moved to Chattanooga, where she was a member of the Hixson United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed traveling, singing, square dancing, cooking, camping and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Pauline Walkington and Shirley Post, and is survived by her sons Bruce (Melanie) Flessner of Naples, Florida and David (Vicky) Flessner of Chattanooga; five grandchildren - Lauren Aerni-Flessner (John), Elisha Catchings (Rocky), Robert Flessner, Brandon (Maria) Flessner and Michael (Chelsea) Flessner - and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22 at Hixson United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hixson United Methodist Church or Hearth Hospice of Chattanooga.
