Wilma Dee Atchley, 83, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025 at Brookdale Mt. Vernon. She was born on April 30, 1942 in Bradley County in the Eureka community. She attended Hopewell Elementary and was a 1959 graduate of Bradley Central High School. She lived most of her adult life in Pennsylvania and Georgia before moving back to Cleveland in 1999.
Dee, as she was known to her friends. loved her family immensely. She was also a fierce animal lover and protector, often volunteering at shelters and contributing financially to their welfare.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Bowlin Atchley, father, William Hooper Atchley and older brother, who she adored, William Leon Atchley Sr.
Surviving are her two nephews, Richard Stephen Atchley, William Leon (Chuck) Atchley Jr, Sister-in-law Bobbie Woody Atchley, and several cousins.
Dee loved the outdoors, card games and board games and always had fun creating memories with her family and many friends. During baseball seasons she could always be found cheering on the Atlanta Braves and in the fall the Tennessee Volunteers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Staff of Brookdale MtVernon for taking such great care of her. Also, Kristi Thomas for making her look so beautiful each week.
Per her request there will be no formal service. She asked that if you so choose, please make a donation to the Cleveland Animal Shelter, Ark of Cleveland, SPCA or any other organization that may be dear to you.
