William (Petey) Trotter, 63 of Cleveland, TN, passed away June 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family after a hard fought 16 month battle with liver and pancreatic cancer.
Born September 17, 1962, in Macon, GA, son of the late Johnny Trotter and Jewel Tucker. Petey later moved to Cleveland, TN, when he was 12 years old.
In his earlier years, Petey enjoyed baseball and was an excellent catcher. When he wasn't on the field, he could be found "swimming like a fish" in a nearby lake or river. He had a perfect dive and a fear of nothing. His dry sense of humor was unmatched. A gifted painter and paper hanger, Petey was a member of Painters Local Union 226.
Other than his parents, he is proceeded in death by his stepfather James Amason; brother, Dennis Trotter; son-in-law, Stephen Whitmire; grandparents, William & Texie Trotter, George & Westeen Tucker; father and mother-in-law, Lane & Betty Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Angie Watson Trotter; daughters, April (Thomas) Miles, Amy (Lee) Whitmire and Amber (Steven) Terrell. His grandchildren (who could do no wrong in his eyes), Gavin Miles, Griffin (Jaley) Miles, Laynee Whitmire, Finn Terrell, Fletcher Terrell, Lillie Shaw and Riley Shaw. His brothers Johnny (Melanie) Trotter and Roger (Brooke) Trotter; siters, Wendy Trotter and Candy Trotter. A very special "brother"-in-law, Timmy Watson and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at Companion Funeral Home Ridge Sanctuary, Saturday, July 4, 2026. Friends and family will be welcomed Noon-2:00 PM.
