William Douglas “Doug” Mizell, 68, of Cleveland, TN, passed away September 3, 2021, in a local hospital. He died of complications of a long term illness. He was a cancer survivor for twenty-one years,
Doug was born on May 19, 1953, in Elizabeth, Louisiana to Doris Geraldine Cox and William Douglas Parker. Doug was a member of Heritage Fellowship Church of God. He retired from AutoZone as a truck driver and service employee. He was an independent locksmith. With his Agrogas Corporation, he invented “Kudzunol” and alternative fuels from a number of sources.
He cofounded the Cleveland Survival Preppers with a childhood friend. There he shared from his interests and personal experience. Doug was a football player for the Cleveland High School Blue Raiders from 1968-1972.

Doug dubbed himself as the “Duke of Whoop”, as his Happy Tracks show went out on the radio and internet on Monday nights. His wife, Clara, enjoyed being his “Sugardumplin Duchess”, as she helped prepare the script. The outdoors was his home. He loved camping and hiking in the mountains, taking in its beauty. He could cook a fine breakfast and dinner by the campfire.
Doug is preceded in death by his fathers, William Douglas Parker, who died in a mill accident; James Caldwell Mizell, who married his mother, and raised him through his school years, Then James Alton Quine, affectionately called “Pop”. Also, his mother, Doris Geraldine Quine, and his older brother, Gerald Louis Mizell, passed away three weeks before Doug.

Doug is survived by his wife, Clara Rayburn Mizell; sons, James Alexander Mizell (Casey), Adrian Douglas Mizell (Kelly) and grandson, Hayden Ludin; stepson, Paul David Stockwell; siblings, Debbie Mason Mizell (Jerry’s widow), Dianne Mizell Webb (Ken), Rebecca Parker Gregory (Greg), James “Jim” C, Mizell, Jr. (Allison), and John Willis Mizell. Doug is also survived by many nephews and nieces; four stepchildren and eight grandchildren he shared with his wife.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Heritage Fellowship Church of God in McDonald, TN, 4635 S. Lee Hwy, McDonald, TN, 37353. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, at the church, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Candies Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Fellowship Church of God, or to the charity of your choice. All arrangements are being made by Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
