Wanda Faye Warden, 78, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home in Vonore on June 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 30, 1947, in Harlan, Kentucky, Wanda was the cherished daughter of the late Ranky and Sarah Moore. She built a life centered on hard work, family, and unwavering honesty, leaving an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For 25 years, Wanda proudly served as the floor manager at the Gondolier in Sweetwater, Tennessee. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and ability to keep everything running smoothly. Her coworkers and customers alike respected her for her dependability and straightforward nature.
Wanda was a woman who left a lasting impression. She was someone the younger generation looked up to and admired. Those who loved her knew they could always count on her, while those who didn't know her well still respected her strength and conviction. Wanda believed in speaking honestly and living authentically. She said what she meant and meant what she said, a quality that earned her the admiration of many throughout her life.
She is lovingly survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Denis and Becky Smith; her daughter, Angela Warden; her grandchildren, Zach Smith, Caleb Smith, Keely Smith, Deagan Dixon, Lily Jaynes, Winter, and Juniper; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Moore.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Ranky and Sarah Moore; her sisters, Deb, Sereta, Rose, and Zella ("Sugar"); her brother, Wilbur; and her beloved oldest son, Michael Smith.
A memorial service celebrating Wanda's life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with a visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m with the Service beginning at 6:00pm at Companion Funeral Home in Athens, Tennessee at 400 S White St, Athens, TN 37303.
Wanda's family will remember her as a woman of remarkable strength, fierce independence, and unwavering love. Her honesty, resilience, and example will continue to inspire her family for generations to come. Though she will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
