Virginia Wilson Miller Lyon, age 100, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the Remember Me Senior Care Facility in Cleveland, Tennessee. She and her identical twin sister, Mary, were born on August 27, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio. She grew up in Dexter, Michigan and graduated from High School there in 1943/. She and her sister, Mary, went on to graduate from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1947. Virginia was asked to speak at her 65th Skidmore reunion where she was honored for being a distinguished graduate. She and her husband, Bob, were married immediately after her college graduation. Virginia lived a very full life, living in South Dakota, California, Arkansas, and then back to Michigan. She was extremely creative, and enjoyed living life to the fullest. She also had a deep love for her family and friends.

Virginia lived a life that was anything but ordinary. She and her husband, Bob, were well traveled and shared many unique adventures together. One of her most cherished journeys was a thoughtfully planned trip across Europe that culminated in India, where her husband, Bob, took her on a romantic trip to see the Taj Mahal under a full moon.

A lifelong learner, Virginia delighted in discovering new skills. She took classes simply for the joy of learning and expressed her creativity through countless pursuits, including pottery, sewing, crochet, knitting, painting, skiing, stained glass, and entertaining. A gifted potter, she operated her own pottery studio in Dexter, Michigan, where her creations were sought after by many visitors to the area. There was no end to her creativity. She especially loved decorating for holidays and creating costumes for parties for herself and her husband, Bob. Virginia's home was a place of welcome. Friends and family alike loved gathering there, especially for her legendary hors d'oeuvres. Virginia and Bob shared a deep love for entertaining, and opened their home generously, creating a place where people felt welcomed and well cared for. After Bob's retirement they split their time betweena cottage in Dexter, Michigan, Snowmass, Colorado, and Green Valley, Arizona. While they were living in Colorado they often opened up their home to care for injured skiers until they were able to travel.

She is survived by her four children: Bob E. Lyon, Jr., Patti Vanlerberghe (Dennis), Rev. Michael S. Lyon (Rev. Sharon), and Becki Pement (Scott); 10 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her sisters, Mary Solari and Nancy Dunphy; and her half-brother, Johnny Miller.

Virginia celebrated her 100th birthday this past August. She lived a life shaped by her love of adventure, artistry, laughter, and love for her family. She will be greatly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who cared about her.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Remember Me Senior Care Facility, who lovingly cared for Virginia during the final five years of her life. Their compassion, kindness, and unwavering support brought comfort not only to Virginia, but to all who loved her. She was truly cherished there.
