Vernon Wesley Pulliam

Vernon Wesley Pulliam, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023, in Cleveland, TN. Born on April 5, 1943, in Reidsville, NC, Vernon lived a life filled with love, faith, and a passion for the great outdoors.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruby Pulliam, and his sisters, Sylvia Ann Gibbs and Carolyn Jean Simmons. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Delores Pulliam, son Clint Pulliam (Chrystal), daughters Lori Ann Howerton (Dwain), Angela Dawn Barrows (Aaron), and Melissa Renee Gibbs. He also leaves behind his brothers, Wayne and Gary Pulliam, his cherished grandchildren, Candace Sheets (Tyler) and Caleb Pulliam (Alicia), and his adored great-grandchildren, Ella Paige Sheets, Ava Kay Sheets, and Camden Wesley Pulliam.

Vernon was a man of deep faith, serving as a Deacon in The Church of God. His devotion to his faith was evident in his service to his community, where he pastored alongside his wife for many years.

In addition to his religious service, Vernon was a skilled car body repairman. His love for old cars was not just a profession but a passion. He could often be found in his garage, working meticulously on a vintage vehicle.

Vernon enjoyed fishing and tying his own flies. Vernon Wesley Pulliam was a man of many talents and passions, but above all, he was a devoted family man. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, from his dedicated service to his church to his love for the outdoors and music. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM with the service to follow at The Church of God at Zion Hill in Cleveland, TN. The interment will take place following the service at Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN. Bishop Oscar Pimental and Bishop Robert Hawkins to officiate.
