Tonya Woodson, age 70, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, adventure, and unwavering love. She is survived by her devoted husband (Charles Woodson) and her beloved daughter (Courtney McDowell) who were the center of her world. She is preceded in death by her mother (Virginia Perry) and her brother (David Perry).
Born with a heart that always seemed to have room for one more friend, one more story, one more animal, Tonya dedicated her life to animal rescue. She was a passionate advocate and assisted with fundraising, working to support the animals and organizations she cared so deeply about. Through rescue communities, especially those she connected with on Facebook, she formed deep and lasting friendships that became a cherished part of her life.
Tonya also found joy in travel, especially during her many trips to Disney parks, where she reveled in the magic and sense of wonder that never faded with age.
A visitation to honor Tonya's life will be held January 10, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapelth 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the impact she made on so many lives.
Tonya's life was defined by kindness, connection, and a spirit that welcomed everyone, two‑legged and four‑legged alike. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her influence lives on in the lives she touched and the animals she helped save.
In honor of her lifelong dedication to rescue, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following animal rescue organizations:
Suzie Shonio's Safe Haven Inc in Morrisville Vermont
McCraken Kitty Kat Rescue
Dixie Day Spay
Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
