Todd Lawrence Schaal, age 62, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Todd grew up on a hobby farm in Wisconsin, where he developed a lifelong love and appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed farming and loved animals, especially dogs and chickens. He found joy in spending time outside, fishing, and taking scenic rides through the mountains.
Todd's main work experience centered around the construction business. He learned the trade from his father, Gene A. Schaal, a master carpenter, and spent many years working alongside him. Todd carried those skills with him throughout his life, eventually becoming especially skilled in drywall installation. He was the kind of man people could count on, and he became the person family, friends, and others called when they needed a helping hand. Whether something needed to be built, repaired, figured out, or simply someone needed to lend a hand, Todd was often the one people turned to. Above all, Todd will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he shared with them and the memories he leaves behind.
Todd had a playful side and was known for always having a joke to tell. He loved to make people laugh and had a way of bringing humor into the moments he shared with others. His sense of humor, willingness to help, and genuine love for the people around him will be among the many things his family and friends remember most. Whenever someone asked Todd where he was going, his familiar answer was always, "Going fishing." And now, with heavy hearts but grateful memories, his loved ones can say that Todd went fishing one last time, fishing in Heaven.
Todd is survived by his children, Corey (Misty) Schaal, Michael (Kayla) McCloud, and Jonathan McCloud; his grandchildren, Chloe, Cambree, Corbin, and Isaiah Schaal, Alyssa and Madison McCloud; and his siblings, Victoria L. (Donnie) Ware, James Schaal, Tina (Mark) Hutchens, Trevor Schaal, Troy Schaal, and Tracy Schaal. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
In accordance with Todd's wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family, and those wishing to be notified when the date is set for Todd's Celebration of Life may contact Corey Schaal or Victoria Ware.
