In Loving Memory of Theresa "Terry" Scott
With hearts not ready to let her go, we share the passing of Theresa Scott, affectionately known as Terry, who left us peacefully on April 11, 2025, at Covenant Health Hospital in her beloved hometown of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was 62.
Terry was born on August 2, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Anthony and Patricia Irvin. She is survived by her loving sister, Cynthia Nugent, who stood beside her through life's many joys and challenges.
Terry was a vibrant soul-spirited, outspoken, and fiercely devoted to her community. A proud Tennessee Volunteer, she poured her heart into her work at Y-12 Federal Credit Union and into every corner of Anderson County. She served two terms as County Commissioner for District 7, where her commitment to her neighbors was personal and genuine. She knocked on doors, listened intently, and fought tirelessly for schools, libraries, and public safety services. Her love for Oak Ridge was not just spoken-it was lived every day.
During the holidays, Terry would often be seen making cheerful rounds to greet neighbors, always carrying her trademark warmth and witty charm. She loved the rhythm of life here-from the music festivals and adventures in the Smokies to quiet evenings spent in the company of her cherished cats and dogs.
Terry's legacy is one of service, laughter, and an unshakable love for her hometown and its people.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at Companion Funeral Home, 653 Briarcliff Ave, Oak Ridge, TN on Friday, June 13th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Terry's favorite charity, The Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation-a cause close to her heart.
