Terry Choate

Terry Ray Choate, age 74, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. A man of deep faith, Terry was a devoted member of the Church of God and attended South Cleveland Church of God, where he found strength, fellowship, and a place to worship the Lord he loved.

Terry lived a full and joyful life, and he cherished every moment spent with the people he loved. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding the grandkids on the Razor, playing cards, hosting cookouts, and opening his home to any and all who stopped by for a visit. His heart was big, his door was open, and anyone who knew him knew the warmth of his hospitality and the kindness of his spirit. He served in the Vietnam Era with the United States Army.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Choate; stepfather, Bobby Allmon; special daughter, Dee Dee O'Daniel; grandson, Randy Johnston; grandparents Jessie and John Holloway and Amos and Bertha Choate; daughter-in-law Pam Choate; and several aunts, uncles, and dear friends who went before him.

Left to carry on his memory is his loving mother, Joyce Allmon Holloway; his devoted spouse, Mary "Peanut" Choate; sons Ben (Fiancé Jessica Green)Choate, Jason (Robyn) Choate, and Kirk (Pam) Allen; and brothers Tony (Debbie) Choate and Tim (Brenda) Choate. Terry was also a proud grandfather to Ashley Johnston, Kayla Garrison, Tiphane Llosa, Josh Choate, Sydney Moore, Jacob Allen, Jared Allen, Seth Defoor, Logan Defoor, and Mackenzy Choate, and a beloved great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.

Terry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and family-he leaves behind a circle of people forever blessed by his presence, his generosity, and the memories he created with them.

The family requests that donations be made to Hearth Hospice and the VA in Terry's honor.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 29, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at South Cleveland Church of God located at 1846 Volunteer Dr SW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
