Terry James Chastain, 64, of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 27, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.
Terry was born in Cleveland on August 31, 1960, to Harvey and Charlene Chastain. He was a man defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and a heart that never hesitated to serve others. For many years, he devoted his career to the field of Nuclear Medicine, where his care for others was evident in every patient he helped. He held a Master's Degree from Tusculum College and took great pride in using his knowledge to serve his community.
Above all else, Terry cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Aaron Chastain (Lizzie) and Laura Dye (Patrick), and his beloved grandchildren, Braeden and Ella Dye, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his father, Harvey Chastain, and his brother, Todd Chastain (Jill), all of whom will miss him deeply.
Terry found joy in the simple pleasures of life-listening to music, taking in peaceful moments on the river, and spending time on boat rides with family. His gentle spirit and fierce love for those he cared about were unmistakable. He was the kind of man who always put others before himself, and his kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He faithfully served at Candies Creek Church as long as his health would allow, where he especially loved operating the sound and being a quiet, steady part of the worship experience. He also had a heart for the students of Candies Creek Academy, where he once served as a teacher, impacting lives with his calm wisdom and genuine care.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Charlene Chastain, and we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
Terry's legacy of love, humility, and quiet strength will live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and everyone blessed to call him family or friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dana Work Scholarship Fund at Candies Creek Academy, which supports students with tuition-an effort close to Terry's heart and a continuation of his dedication to serving others.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home - The Cleveland Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Kyle officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Terry or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
