Terry Lee
Benas
Mar 29, 1956 — Sep 22, 2026
Terry Benas, 70, of Moore, Oklahoma, formerly of Athens, Tennessee, and Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, and was reunited with his beloved parents.
Terry was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man who truly knew how to make the most of life.
A man of many talents, there wasn't much Terry couldn't build, fix, or figure out. In his younger years, he enjoyed building and racing cars, and his love for anything Chevy stayed with him throughout his life. He also spent time driving trucks, remodeling houses, and putting his many skills to good use. Terry took great pride in helping others and enjoyed volunteering with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
Terry had a generous heart, a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. He always had a story to share, often accompanied by a laugh or a smile. He was happiest when he could lend a helping hand, tackle a project, or spend time with the people he loved. His kindness, humor, and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
One of the greatest joys of Terry's life was the love he shared with his wife, June. From the moment they met, there was something special between them. They were truly made for each other, sharing a beautiful love, a deep friendship, and a bond that was clear to everyone around them. Terry was a devoted and caring husband who found genuine happiness in taking care of June. He loved doing things for her, whether big or small, and always wanted to make her life a little easier and happier. For Terry, love was more than words; it was something he showed through his thoughtfulness, kindness, and the countless little things he did each day. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Terry loved his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. To Terry, family was about love, not labels, and he treasured the people who were part of his life. He gave of himself freely, loved deeply, and will be remembered not only for the things he could do, but for the way he made others feel.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice E. Benas Sr. and Joan R. Benas.
He leaves behind his loving wife, June Benas; his children, Melissa Newman, Rebecca Walters, Phillip Walters, and Andrew Walters; his grandchildren, Zachary Newman (Rikki), Hannah Faulkner (Cayden), and Bryson Riden; and his great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Wrenley.
He is also survived by his sisters, Jenny Matthews (Tom), Susan Richardson, and Patty Cahoon (Bill); his brothers, Robin Benas (Thanh) and Maurice Benas (Sayo); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Tommy and George, who brought him so much companionship and joy.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Terry's life was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. Though his time here has ended, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched will remain. He was deeply loved, will be forever remembered, and will be missed beyond words.
