Susan Elizabeth Rieger

Susan Elizabeth Rieger, 79, of Cherokee Ridge, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and friends.

Susan was born on August 30, 1946, in Syracuse, New York, to Burton and Marion McKaig. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving as a high school teacher, where she was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Through her work and everyday life, Susan touched the lives of many with her caring nature and generous spirit.

Susan found joy in knitting, sewing, jewelry making, gardening, and spending treasured time with family and friends. She brought warmth and creativity into the lives of those around her and cherished the relationships she built throughout her life.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Bob Rieger; her son, David; and her sister, Linda Hanson.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Susan's friends and members of the community who provided support, comfort, and care to her husband and son during this difficult time.

Susan will be remembered for her love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
