Susan "Doc" Ratliff, a proud United States Navy veteran, published poet, animal lover, and beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, was received into the arms of Jesus on September 17, 2026 at the age of 59.

She served her country as a Navy Corpsman from 1987 to 1999, including during Operation Desert Storm. After her military service, she continued helping others by supporting veterans struggling with PTSD and depression, creating and contributing to veterans' memorials, supporting re-entry for people coming out of incarceration, and helping the disabled access transportation by serving with SETHRA as a veteran advisor. In addition to her heart to serve and protect others, she was adventurous and creative! Building a 200 foot fence and painting it as a veterans memorial fence that not only supports veterans, but also first responders. Her giant helping heart found ways to be there for people. She was, in every way, someone who tried to make life a little better for others.

She is survived by her mother, Ruby Sandra Ratliff of Loudon, TN; her sister Trish (Jim) Richardson of Loudon, TN; her brother Jim (Tina) Ratliff of Madisonville, TN; four nephews, Jon, David, and Mark (Kristina) Ratliff, and Michael Estey; and her niece, Rose Richardson, and her beloved sister of the heart Jeannie Anderson. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Ratliff, of Madisonville, TN. She also leaves behind all those she's impacted over the years. In them, her love and kindness will live on.
