Steven Jerome Moody

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved father, papaw, brother, and storyteller Steven Jerome Moody, 59, a lifelong resident of McDonald, TN. He departed this life for his eternal life on April 3, 2026. His life was defined by creativity, profound curiosity, his love of nature, and a deep appreciation of the past.

Born November 11, 1966 to James "JW" and Grace Moody, he was the baby of the bunch. Steve was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things - whether it was the distant whistle of a passing train, the rich sounds of a guitar in his hands, a long walk down the railroad tracks, or stories he loved to tell of the past.

He had a special love for antiques, drawn to the history that each piece carried. He often saw beauty in what others would overlook. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in every guitar chord, every story of the past, and quiet moments spent appreciating the beauty of the nature.

Steve is preceded in death by his cherished parents: James and Grace Moody and sister Lorene. Left to cherish Steve's memories are his daughters: Stephanie Goodine (Dennis), Carla Moody (Jamahl); Grandchildren: Dennis III, Edie, and Piper Goodine; Pierce and Alyssa Ballinger; Mathias Johnson; Brothers and sister: James R. Moody, Robert Moody, Sandra Wagner, Lawrence Moody, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on April 24, 2026 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm, with a memorial service following at Companion Funeral Home Ridge Chapel located at 2412 Georgetown Rd. Cleveland, TN 37311.
