Steve Young

Steve Young "John R.", 71, of Niota, TN passed away on January 29, 2026.

Steve had a deep love for wildlife and made sure every creature around his home was well fed. He often enjoyed sitting on his back porch, listening to the radio, especially AC/DC, and spending time traveling. He would do anything for anyone and was known for his strong work ethic. Steve worked as a coal miner until an injury ended his career. A true jack of all trades, he could fix just about anything without needing to call for help. Above all else, Steve cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his parents, James and Bonnie Young; and half-brother, Tammy Young.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kathy Young; daughter, Earnestine "Pressy" (Robert) Marjonen; grandchildren, Bryanna "Backwoods" Marjonen and Kaylynn "Daniels" Marjonen; great grandchildren, Bryella "Pookie/Blue Eyes" Marjonen-Waller and John Robert Hefner-Marjonen; half-brothers, Bobby Young and Mark Young; half-sister, Bertha Beaty; aunt, Nancy Carol Gooslin; uncle, Jimmy Dale Gooslin; and many other loved family and friends.

There will be no formal services at this time.
