Stella Mae Herron, 79, of Georgetown, Tennessee, met her Lord and Savior on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. She fought a long battle with dementia. She was born September 22, 1946 to the late Leonard and Alice Childs.
Stella lived in Birchwood, Tennessee the entirety of her life. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and lived a Christian life daily. She attended Birchwood Church of God of Prophecy.
Stella was the rock of her whole family. She was a mother to everyone, would give anything she had if they needed it. She was the most Godly example to her family. Her passion was caring for other people, and doing it to the fullest.
Stella worked at Hardwick Clothes, Rose's, and William C. Stansberry's office as a Medical Assistant- of which she retired from. She also owned chicken houses and a dairy farm for many years.
Stella most enjoyed spending time with her family. Her son was her greatest blessing, and brought her so much joy. Her absence will be felt by all who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren.
Stella's family would like to express how thankful and appreciative they are for Gentiva Hospice, and the love and support gave to Stella and her family. As we all mourn the loss of our beloved Stella (Mamaw), let us celebrate the life she lived.
In addition to her parents, Stella is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Burl Lee Herron, sisters, Edith (Roy) Scroggins, Anna Bell (Roy) Baker, Martha Ruth (Ray) Wilson, and Edna Childs.
Stella leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Kendall Brandon (Chanda) Herron, grandchildren, Kayla Alexis Herron, MaKinley Grace Herron, Tucker Brandon Herron. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. She is also survived by her siblings, Ethel (Arnold) Himness, Lloyd Childs, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and some very special friends, namely Doris (Moe) Lynn.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, march 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home - The Ridge Sanctuary with Pastor Kevin Martin and Pastor Kenneth Nope officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at McInturff Cemetery.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Stella, or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
