Stanley Eugene "Gene" Murrell

Stanley "Gene" Eugene Murrell, 84, of Spring City, TN, passed away May 24, 2026 at Tenova Hospital in Knoxville, TN. He was born on November 18, 1941 in Xenia, OH to Stanley and Virginia Murrell.

Gene held multiple positions with several Car Dealerships as a Salesman, Manager, and eventually an owner of his own car sales business, Spring City Auto Sales and Interstate Motors. Gene also became a realtor and eventually Broker of his own real estate office, GM Realty.

Gene and his wife Ginny petitioned the Upper Room and started Stillwaters Emmaus in Dayton, TN, and also started a small Non-Denominational Church: Open Door Fellowship in Spring City, TN. Gene was known for his devout Christian belief, honest hard work, great husband, father, and friend to many. After retiring, he worked as a bus driver with his wife Ginny, as his bus aide, for several years carrying pre-K children to and from school. He and Ginny absolutely loved caring for all the kids.

Gene loved boating, skiing, playing cards, dancing, bowling, competitive archery, camping, traveling and fishing so much, he moved his family from OH to TN to live on beautiful Watts Bar Lake.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia 'Ginny' Murrell and parents, Stanley and Virginia Murrell.

Left to cherish his memory is his children; Mike (Leeanne) Murrell of Crab Orchard, TN, Chris (Whitney) Murrell of Medina, OH, Jason (Laura) Murrell of Harriman, TN; grandchildren, Abby (Adam) Rogers of Harriman, TN, Jacob (Korin) Murrell of Harriman, TN, Charlie Murrell of Medina, OH, Maggie Murrell of Medina, OH, Ellie Murrell of Clinton, TN, Glen Murrell of Clinton, TN, Valerie and Bryn Cox of Portland, OR, Ashley Smith of Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren, Jameson Rogers of Harriman, TN, Lily-Beth Rogers of Harriman, TN, Easton Murrell of Harriman, TN; sister, Sandy Kirchner of Spring City, TN and his beloved pets, Traveler and Susie.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on July 25th, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 374 West Jackson Ave, Spring City, TN 37381 with Randy Schmittendorf officiating.
