Shirley Woods

Shirley Kimsey Woods, 89, returned to her heavenly home on December 28, 2025. She was devoted to her family and their dedication to her supported her throughout her journey. Shirley was born to the late Curtis and Fannie Cowden Kimsey, in Cleveland, TN, on December 18, 1936. She is survived by her son, Curtis Woods; daughter, Marcella Woods (Patrick Norris); grandchildren, Aaron Woods (Lindsey), Tyler Norris, and Alana Norris; great-grandchildren Zoe Woods and Nathaniel Woods; and several nieces and nephews. 

Shirley was a loving person known for her crooked smile that would light up a room. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is now at peace. Having lived in many places during her life, including Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville, she always considered Cleveland home. While a resident of Cleveland, she was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Murray Frank Woods, Jr.; sisters, Louise Terry (Ralph), Edna Headrick (M.C.), and Joyce Johnson (Herbert); brother, Lake Kimsey (Allie); daughter-in-law, Darlene Thompson Woods; and sister-in-law, Julia Woods Williamson (H.A.). Visitation will be on February 7, 2026, from 1-3pm with the service to follow at 3pm at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. The family gratefully accepts prayers and condolences, and requests that you share your memories with them.
