Shirley Werley

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Shirley Werley Caldwell of Chattanooga died peacefully on November 30, 2025. She was born November 22, 1936 to Grover F. and Ruby S. Pogue in Huntland, TN.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, James Caldwell, of Franklin, TN, daughters Lee Garner (Bruce) and Abby Thrower (Sandy), sister Suzi Sawrie (Steve), grandchildren Michael David Thrower, Leela Hix, Averi Thrower, Ean Thrower Smith and Ellie Thrower Smith, numerous nieces and nephews and her BFF Shirley Ann Husband.

She was predeceased by her son John Michael Thrower, Jr, as well as her brothers John W. Pogue and Rex F. Pogue.

A private family service will be arranged at a later date.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
