Shirley Sills Morrison, 72, passed away on November 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories with those fortunate enough to know her. Born on May 24, 1954, Shirley was a woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. While she held many titles throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as "Nanny," a title she wore with immense pride and one that will forever hold a special place in her family's hearts.
Shirley had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and welcome. Her home was more than just a house; it was a place of comfort, warmth, and belonging. No matter how old you were or how much time had passed, walking through her door always felt like coming home. Her laughter was infectious, the kind that could fill an entire room and bring a smile to anyone's face. She had a gift for making even the simplest moments unforgettable.
Some of Shirley's happiest times were spent surrounded by the people she loved most. Whether it was gathering for cookouts at her sons' homes, sharing dinner dates with her grandchildren, or sitting around talking and laughing about everything and nothing at all, she treasured every moment spent with her family. She understood that life's greatest blessings weren't found in grand occasions, but in the everyday moments shared with those you love.
Anyone who knew Shirley knew she had a few favorites. She was a devoted Tennessee Volunteers football fan who loved cheering on her Vols, and she was never tired of watching her beloved Lonesome Dove. But above all, nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a strong woman with a big heart and an even bigger love for her family. She taught those around her the importance of strength, laughter, friendship, and unconditional love, not just through her words, but through the way she lived her life. Her family will forever carry those lessons with them, along with the sound of her laughter, the warmth of her home, and the comfort of knowing they were always loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Betty Sills.
She is survived by her loving sons, Jeff Moulton and Joey (Kim) Morrison; her grandchildren, Taylor (Trevor) Jones, Haley (Caleb) Morgan, and Brandon Morrison; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Walker Jones and Cooper Morgan.
Though her family would give anything for one more cookout, one more dinner date, one more story, or just one more chance to hear her laugh, they find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her house will always feel like home, her laughter will forever echo in their memories, and her love will live on through the generations she held so dear.
