Sharon Lewise (Burgett) Deitz, age 87, was called home by the Lord on June 23 rd , 2025, in Ooltewah, TN. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband of nearly 70 years and family.
Sharon was born April 15 th , 1938, in Oklahoma City, OK to Zola Cora and John Keith Burgett where she lived until she married Jerrold Floyd Deitz on August 19 th , 1956. On the same day of their wedding, they moved to California, where they started their family soon after. In 1968, they moved back to Oklahoma with their three children. After she became a Tupperware dealer, Sharon continued to prioritize being at home with her family. Excelling as a dealer and eventual manager, Sharon and Jerry were offered a Tupperware distributorship in 1977. They accepted and packed up to start a new adventure in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sharon had a heart for missions and was part of WMU (Women Mission Union) where she found community with many ladies. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. At a young age she sang on the radio with her lifelong friends Trudy and Marsha. She blessed those at church with her voice, singing in the choir every Sunday. Ignited by her love for the Lord, she used every opportunity to encourage and bless those she encountered throughout her life. Even after receiving the life-changing diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1973, Sharon continued to care for her husband and family and did not let the disease define her, living life to the fullest.
In January 1989, she and Jerry retired together and sold their Tupperware distributorship to start traveling all over the United States. Sharon's youngest son, Jerry Keith, wanted to write this next section about his parent's life after retirement. "Upon retirement Mom and Dad began a life on the road with the purchase of an RV. Visiting national parks, new sights and old friends became an experience they both cherished. No rocking chairs here. Mom loved being on the move after spending so many years dedicated to their business. Retirement was void of appointments and schedules, making them both just happy to be together.
Eventually, Mom became weaker and more dependent on Dad's ever-present care, bringing travel to a close. Settling closer to family, they moved to Illinois in 1999 and then to Tennessee in 2019. I am just glad she was able to first experience all those freeway exit ramps leading to new sights and experiences. Mom's last exit ramp led to something more awesome than any of us can imagine, just as she knew it would. Because He promised her that."
She is preceded in death by her parents Zola and Keith, and brothers Bill (Betty) and Tom (Judy) Burgett. She is survived by husband, Jerry, children Sharlavan (Tony) Robinson, Brian (Gretchen) Deitz, Jerry Keith (Jeanne) Deitz. Grandchildren Matthew (Christine) Robinson, Melissa Steve, Rebecka Anderson, Emily (Jeremy) Allen, Marc Robinson, Mikaela (Tanner) Wills, Maxwell (Adeline) Deitz, Xiu Xiu Robinson and Anikka Deitz, and Great-grandchildren Elleina, Wesley, Levi, Zola, Amaya, Leslie, Jason, Caleb, Nora, and Mara and extended family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society https://donate.nationalmssociety.org in Sharon's honor to help in the search of a cure for the disease that affects many.
Our family is forever grateful to have received Sharon's love and light for all these years and for Jerry, her beloved husband who lovingly cared for her, was always by her side, and protected her privacy and preserved her dignity. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice nurses and loving care givers who were part of her life for the last few years.
