Sam Tinsley

Samuel Dennis Tinsley, born November 2, 1946, in Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Bethel Tinsley and Mary Alma Beene Tinsley, and his infant son, Dennis Brian Tinsley.

Sam was a devoted husband, father, and proud "Pappy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy throughout his life. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joyce White Tinsley, a testament to his deep love and commitment to family.

A man of strong faith, Sam was an ordained deacon and a member of Savannah Bay Baptist church. He lived his life guided by his beliefs, serving others with kindness, humility, and integrity.

Sam spent most of his working years in the auto parts industry and was the former owner of Cox Auto Parts, Inc. He later continued his strong work ethic by working alongside his son for 20 years at Hearthside Hearth & Home, where he remained active up until his passing. Throughout his career, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of many in his community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce White Tinsley; his son, Kevin Tinsley (Casey); his daughter, Kimberly Hooker (Scotty); and one sister, Jane Verner (Leroy). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kaleb Tinsley, Conner Tinsley (Madyson), Koby Hooker (Taylor), Brett Hooker (Kayla), Jonathan Grider (Morgan), and Haven Grider, along with five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Jerry White and Jimmy White, whom he loved as brothers.

Sam will be remembered for his steady presence, his strong values, and the love he gave so freely to his family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those who loved him.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Companion Funeral Home - The Ridge Sanctuary at 1:00 pm with Reverend Sammy Hooker officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Kaleb Tinsley, Conner Tinsley, Koby Hooker, Brett Hooker, Jonathan Grider, Travis White, Jeremy White, Justin White and Trey White serving as pallbearers.
