Ruth Ann Lawson

Ruth Ann Lawson, 83, of Cleveland, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

A lifelong resident of Cleveland, Ruth was a woman of deep and abiding faith who faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Ocoee Church of God, where her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for those around her. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy in attending church, spending time with her family, and sharing special moments with her loved ones and friends.

Ruth dedicated 30 years of service to Cleveland City Schools, where her hard work, dedication, and commitment to others made a lasting impact. She was a loving and caring woman whose kindness touched the lives of many. Above all, Ruth treasured her family and the time they shared together. Her love for the Lord guided her throughout her life, and the faith, love, and kindness she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family can find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Luther "Luke" and Georgia Bain; her beloved husband, Russell Lawson; her brothers, Roy, James, Don, and Willie Bain; and her sister, Irene Breedlove.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her children, Helen (Gary), Junior (Betty), Patricia (David), Kaye, and Karen (Shon); her sister, Mary (Randy); 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many loving family members and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts and treasure the memories they shared with her.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on October 22, 2026, at the Ridge Sanctuary of Companion Funeral and Cremation Service located at 2412 Georgetown Rd. NW Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 23, 2026, with Pastor Michael Whitmire officiating.

Following the service, Ruth will be laid to rest at Hiwassee Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Simonds, Zack Fowler, Travis Grissom, Jack Murphy, Carson Cunningham, and Marlon Johnson.
