Ruth Miñoza Gunida, a beacon of love and faith, fell asleep in Christ May 10, 2026, surrounded by her cherished family in McDonald, TN. Born in Cebu, Philippines, she was the beloved daughter of the late Napoleon and Remedios Miñoza. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edgar Miñoza.
Ruth was a devoted teacher and retired principal of Mangayon Elementary School in the Philippines. She served with unwavering dedication, including during the rebuilding of the school by the Tzu Chi Charity Foundation following the devastating Typhoon Pablo.
Her kindness, compassion, and deep love for the Lord will be forever remembered by her family, friends, and community. At the age of 19, Ruth embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith and remained a steadfast believer throughout her life. She faithfully shared God's Word through Bible tracts, magazines, and books, making it her life's mission to spread His love each day. She devoted much of her time to prayer and was known as a true prayer warrior who faithfully supported literature evangelists and ministries dedicated to advancing God's work.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruvi Grace (Glen) Dionaldo, her son, Leummim (Joeylin Mae) Gunida, her daughter, Grizzie Mae (Jimmy) Piayas, Valdemmore, Gemmar and Gelmar whom she lovingly raised as her own; her grandchildren, Lovely Zoe Anne, Jan Gabriel, and Liam Joshua; her siblings, Ralph (Rosie), Shirley, Es (Nato), Fe; and Eva (Ferdi) along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Collegedale Memorial Park.
Special thanks to Hearth Hospice, Tennessee Oncology, Cook County Hospital - Chicago, and to Dr. Maryam Sanati who did above and beyond in her care for Ruth.
