Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Poteet Freeman, 80, of Cleveland, TN passed away on May 31, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1945 to the late Joseph and Opal Poteet. Ruthie was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and retired as a Bradley County Corrections Officer after many years of service. She loved flowers, gardening, and bird watching. Above all else, she loved her family and was very involved in her church, Cedar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Doyle Lee Freeman, sisters Frances Alene Patterson and Mary Ella Younes and stepson Tony Freeman.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son James Cartwright (Jennifer); daughter Pam Howard (Billie Hembree); grandchildren: Keslie Posey (Michael), Kaelyn Cartwright, Michael Hicks (Emily), and Joshua Roberts (Devon); great-grandchildren: Emma Claire Posey, Rhett James Posey, Wesley Crisp, Steven McMurray, and Teirria Wildermuth. In addition to these, she leaves behind numerous extended family members and close friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm on Wednesday June 4th at Cedar Springs Baptist Church with Pastors Homer Roberts and Dusty Caldwell officiating. Her family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm at the church prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at 10am on Thursday June 5th at Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
