Roy Lee Davis

Roy Lee Davis, 86, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on September 10, 2026.

Roy was born on December 16, 1939, to the late Luther Roscoe Davis and Mary Elizabeth King Davis. He worked for many years at Bowater as a millwright and took great pride in working hard and providing for his family.

Roy was a Christian of the Baptist tradition whose family was at the center of his life. He treasured the time he spent with those he loved, especially family trips to the beach. He enjoyed watching sports and was always especially proud to watch his grandchildren compete and participate in the activities they loved. Later in life, Roy also enjoyed playing golf. More than anything, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who found great joy in his family and in caring for those closest to him.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Hudgins Davis; and his brothers, John Walter Davis and Sherman Lee Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, James Davis (Erica), Renee Morrow (Terry), and Rhonda Davis; his sister, Shirley Liner; his grandchildren, Chase Morrow (Emily), Allie Morey (Griffin), Cody Suttles, Wyatt Davis, Emmarie Davis, and Evelynn Davis; and his great-grandchildren, Rowan Morrow, Isla Morrow, Silas Morrow, Edith Morey, and Amos Morey. Roy is also survived by numerous nieces, including special niece Pam Williams, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

Roy's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, in the Ridge Sanctuary of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A funeral service celebrating Roy's life will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Roy will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Shawn Davis, Tylon Davis, Colton Davis, Wyatt Davis, Chase Morrow, and Rowan Morrow will serve as pallbaerers.

The Davis family would also like to express thanks to Avail Assisted Living and Memory Care and caregivers Davanda Piersaul, Shay Berger, Elizabeth Kramer, and Judy Clements for all their care and support to Davis family.
