Robert Bruce Warren Sr. of Cleveland died Friday August 29 at home in Cleveland, TN.
A native of Nolensville, Tennessee, was born to the late Elmer and Aldie Warren. He moved with his wife to Cleveland in 1953 to begin a new position as a Soil Scientist with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. During his time in Cleveland, he mapped soil types in Polk County and Meigs County along with other counties. He was particularly proud of the fact that he mapped Meigs County in its entirety by himself. In the mid-70s he was loaned out to the Tennessee State Health Department, finishing his career after that assignment.
His passion early on was for quail hunting. Although he enjoyed hunting other game, along with fishing, nothing could top a great day of watching his English setters at work. He also enjoyed antique refinishing, music, and was probably the only person you could ever meet that could be fascinated by looking at the geological strata in a road cut.
After the passing of his wife, Bob became active at the local Bradley Cleveland Senior Activity Center where he enjoyed exercising and singing along with the company of the many friends that he made over the years.
He is survived by his son, Bruce Warren (Akemi) of Suwanee GA, and his daughter, Jann Stephens (Gene) of Nolensville TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Taylor Johnson (Michael) of Atlanta GA, Zachary Stephens of Readyville TN, Stacey Warren of Smyrna GA, and Joshua Warren of Haslett MI. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Joyce Ann Warren.
The family would like to thank his care staff: Cindy, Crystal, Cathy, Mecalah, Haley, Steve, Grant, and the rest of the people at Gentiva Hospice and Right at Home Companions.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Companion Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 10:30AM on Friday September 5. Visitation will be at the chapel one hour before the service. A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga immediately after the service. Pallbearers will be Taylor Johnson, Zachary Stephens, Stacey Warren, Joshua Warren, Josh Melton and Daniel Brantley.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
