Robert Joseph "Bobby" Hohn

March 15, 1957 — June 27, 2025

Robert "Bobby" Hohn was born on Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato, California, on March 15, 1957. Bobby worked hard throughout his life, never making an excuse but always finding a way. As part of his work in commercial logistics, Bobby spent much of his life moving heavy equipment. He never backed down from a hard job. Bobby was transient for many years and loved to travel - living in California, Washington D.C., and the Pacific Northwest - ultimately landing in Cleveland, TN.

Bobby was a good friend who always wanted to be up front and speak the truth, often embellished with colorful language. You never had to guess how he was feeling or what he was thinking. While he was aware that his large stature and loud voice could be intimidating at first, he was quick to win people over with his big heart. "I'm Bobby," he would always say, meaning that he was going to be consistent in character, whether he was talking with a friend, a medical provider, or the Lord.

In 2023, Bobby got connected to Matthew's Table Church in Cleveland, TN, which was one of the highlights of his week. He especially loved the time to "pass the peace" and meet new people. He took great joy when the kids would run past him on their way to their classroom, and he would give a "hell yeah" in response to the sermon (Bobby's version of an "amen"). Bobby grew many friendships at Matthew's Table.

Bobby loved giving back. He enjoyed a season of volunteering with his friends at The Caring Place and supporting his friend's work at United Way. Even though he was largely homebound and in a lot of pain the last several years of his life, he still found a way to care for those around him, whether that was sharing a home-cooked meal with a friend, donating spare food for a neighbor in need, or slipping a couple of 20 dollar bills to his caregiver who was struggling to pay the bills.

In the end, Bobby had a stable place to live with a kitchen he loved to cook in. His home was filled with pictures with friends and seating to host visits and conversations. He was valued, cared for, and loved. Though he sometimes shared that he was afraid of dying, something he spoke to the Lord about a lot, he knew his Good Shepherd was with him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his gravesite on Friday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm, weather permitting. Bobby is buried at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, TN, near the Veterans Cemetery.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Bobby or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
