Robert Love Hamilton

Robert Love Hamilton, 90, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on August 20, 2026.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Salyer Hamilton; his brother, Dr. William Love Hamilton of Kingsport, Tennessee; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Dr. Margaret Brockmiller of Maggie Valley, North Carolina.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Robin Hamilton; his granddaughters, Katherine Faye Hamilton and Kristen Alyse Hamilton, all of Cleveland; his nephew, Dr. William Hamilton of Kingsport; and his niece, Ms. Karen Hamilton of Knoxville.

A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Army and Army Reserve, including the 390th Engineer Company of Chattanooga, and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Bob enjoyed a respected career in banking, finance, insurance, and business management, retiring as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of First American National Bank.

Bob was deeply committed to Cleveland. He was a past president of the Cleveland Kiwanis Club and supported programs for children, Special Olympics, scholarships, and other community initiatives. He served as a trustee of the Cleveland State Community College Foundation, as a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Cleveland, and as a Special Deputy with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office. He was recognized for 50 years of membership in Cleveland Masonic Lodge No. 134, F&AM, and was a member of the Scottish Rite, Chattanooga Consistory.

Known for his warm sense of humor, Bob made many lifelong friends and often said that the best thing about getting older was "the loss of peer pressure."

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Cleveland, especially Ms. Kimberly Bright and Ms. Lee Young, RN, for their compassionate care. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Cleveland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service's Ridge Sanctuary, located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tennessee. A Masonic service, conducted by Cleveland Lodge No. 134, F&AM, will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.
