Robert Charles Gibson

Robert Charles "Hoot" Gibson, 77, passed away on February 12, 2026. He was born on November 21,1948 in Blount County to the late Ralph and Ivy Gibson.

Robert worked his career at Y-12 many years supporting our National Security. He attended Karns High School and was a standout athlete in football, earning letters all four years and excelling in numerous games. He demonstrated remarkable versatility, playing both offense and defense tirelessly, and led his team as captain with unwavering dedication

Robert's uplifting pursuits, which included hunting, fishing and supporting the Tennessee Vols football team, reflected his zest for life and inspired those around him. He lived in enduring legacy of love and devotion, forever, inspiring generations to come as an unwavering pillar of strength and boundless compassion as a husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra Kincaid Gibson; children, Bobby Gibson, Michelle Gibson; several grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (wife, Judy) Gibson and their family, Richard (wife, Diane) Gibson and their "bunch".

Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 6:00 pm at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, 653 Briarcliff Ave, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 with visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Please feel free to send flowers or make a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
