Robert "Rex" Gaston, age 77, of Cleveland, TN passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1947.

He was the devoted husband of Darlen Gaston, his loving wife of 53 years. Together they shared a lifetime of love, faith, and family.

He is survived by his children, Tara Marie and son Darren and daughter-in-law Melissa Gaston. He was a proud grandfather to Chyna Hammond and spouse Trevor Hammond, Canaan Bowling and spouse Barrett Bowling, Matthew Prather, Rex Austin Prather, Seth Gaston, Zack Gaston, Noah Gaston, Gracie Gaston, and Bryson Killian and spouse Brandon Killian. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jackson, Arya, and Olli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Mae Wayters and Donald Lee Gaston and by his sister Joyce. He is survived by his sister, Brenda.

After graduating high school, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served during the Vietnam conflict. He later pursued a passion for professional photography, capturing moments that told stories.

Though he lived a full and meaningful live, his greatest joy was his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride, and they filled his days with love and happiness. He was a man of strong faith and peace, and while he will be deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort knowing he was ready to go to his eternal home with Jesus Christ, our Lord. He now rests in the arms of many who were before him.

A committal service with full military honors will be held at 11am on Wednesday August 6th at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Rex or your condolences with his family at his onilne memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Gaston family with these arrangements.
