On March 27, 2026, Ricky Joe Mason went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Ricky was a devoted son, brother, and husband-but above all, he was the best father any daughter could ask for and a cherished father-in-law.
Ricky had a deep love for life and the simple joys that came with it. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, building and riding rail buggies, and riding motorcycles. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him knew how deeply he loved his daughters, his sons-in-law-whom he proudly considered his own boys-and his grandchildren. They were truly the light of his life.
He shared a special bond with his sons-in-law, spending countless hours together working on cars, fishing, and riding in the dump truck. Ricky instilled in his daughters the values of independence, strength, and loving with their whole hearts-lessons they will carry with them forever. He was also the proud owner of Mason Painting and Pressure Washing.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Mason; his grandparents, Evelyn and Walter Mason, and Lillie and Creed Bain; his son-in-law, Jessie Kaylor; and His in-laws Walter and Barcia Prince.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Vickie Prince Mason; his mother, Rose Bain Mason; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and George Townsend; and his sister-in-law, Thelma Prince Burrell and husband, Bob Burrell. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Mitzy and husband Jamie; Amy Kaylor; Courtney Werstler and husband Marcus; Shelby Kaylor; Ashley Tennant and husband Jared; Erica Kaylor and fiancé Tyler Collier; Jordan Bullard and husband Austin; and Abigale Hope; Lilly Werstler; Nikolai Werstler; Addie Tennant; Easton Tennant; Kinsley Collier; Samual Tennant and Baby Tennant.
He is further survived by his aunt, Doris Bates; his uncle, Jerry Mason; as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his granddaughter, Shelby Kaylor, who was not only a devoted caregiver to her Papaw but also a true rock to her family during his final days. We couldn't have done it without you Shelby!
A Celebration of Life for Ricky will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Companion Funeral Home - Ridge Chapel. The family welcomes friends and extended family to join them from 11:00am til 3:00pm, with Pastor Dewayne Hamby officiating the service starting at the conclusion of the visitation.
