Richard Goins

Richard (Rick) Dean Goins, of Dayton, TN, strong in his faith and surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully at his residence September 13, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at the age of 72. Born September 9, 1953, in Battle Creek, MI, Rick proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in November 1974.

He was a devoted family man, cherished by his wife Judith (Judy) Goins, two daughters Jamie Harden of Shelbyville, TN and Lisa May of Graysville, TN, a son Chris Cook of Evensville, TN, and many grandchildren, including Alexis (Lexie) Nixon, Jaiden (Jaidy-Bug) Nixon, Bryce Nixon, Cain Harden, Justin May, Jessica (Jessa) Riley, Gabrielle (Gabby) Cook, Chris (Trey) Cook, Melody (Mel) Cook, Brian Miles, and Robert Rogers. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Caraway, two nieces Kristy Caraway and Karry Caraway, and a special nephew Michael Paul Caraway.

Rick was a man with a great sense of humor, known for his practical jokes that brought joy to those around him. He had a passion for movies, particularly action films, and enjoyed exploring new technology and indulging in cooking. His family memories are filled with laughter and love, as Rick made it a priority to spend as much time as he possibly could with his loved ones, creating unforgettable moments.

Rick Goins will be memorialized in cremation, with family and friends gathering at a later date for a celebration of life honoring the impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to get to know him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rick was preceded in death by: his mother, Jennie Catherine Goins; his father, Whitney Hunter; his momma, Carrie M. Goins; his papa, Frank J. Goins.
