Richard George Corns Sr., age 60, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, passed away on January 16, 2026, at his residence.
Richard was born on December 6, 1965, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to the late Richard Earl Corns and Irene Therese Winkler Corns.
Richard loved his career as a truck driver and took pride in the life it provided for his family. Known for his goofy personality, he never started a day without his coffee. He was an avid Amazon shopper and a true tech enthusiast who seemed to know everything about technology. He loved music and really enjoyed being a DJ, known to many as "Quick Mix Rick." Richard deeply loved the beauty of Tennessee, especially the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching sports, particularly cheering on the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox.
Above all else, Richard cherished his family. He especially loved his children, grandchildren, and his four-legged best friends, Halas and Tilly.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary "Cornie" Corns.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife, Cindy Corns; his children, Richard Corns Jr., Heather Sterling (David), Samantha Ferguson (Ryan), Nicholas Corns, Adam Otto, and Evan Otto (Summer); and his grandchildren, David "DJ" Sterling, Alex Otto, and Clara Otto. He is also survived by a large extended family, as well as many friends, including some of his closest, Kevin, John, and Quiggs.
At this time, no formal services are planned. The family will host and announce a memorial at a later date.
Companion Funeral Home of Athens and the Cody family are honored to assist with these arrangements. You are invited to share memories and condolences with the family at Richard's online memorial page at www.companionfunerals.com.
