Rhea Black

Rhea Moorman Black, 89, a resident of Cleveland, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, in a Collegedale, TN healthcare facility. He was born on August 21, 1935, in Chattanooga, TN, a son of the late Grover Nelson Black Sr. & Sarah Marie Moorman Black. Rhea was of the Baptist faith accepting the Lord at very young age and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a pharmacist, accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist.

Also preceded in death was an infant sister Linda Faye Black, wife Mona Sue Kean Black, brother Grover Nelson Black Jr and sister Peggy Jo Black Lindsey.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter Susan M. Black of Chattanooga, TN, nephew Billy R. Black of Rossville, GA and special friends David & Cindy Ricketts of Cleveland, TN and numerous other family members and special friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital, Life Care of Collegedale, Hospice of Chattanooga and special friends David & Cindy Ricketts for their excellent care of Rhea.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Hopewell Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Wallen officiating.
