Rex Owens

Rex Mearl Owens, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024. Rex was born in Battle Creek, MI to Cora & Pete Owens on August 4, 1928. He met and married his wife, Sue, in 1950. Together they moved to Atlanta, GA in 1980 before moving to Cleveland,TN in 2010.

Rex enjoyed working as a commercial building superintendent and built several buildings around the surrounding Atlanta area that ranged from large airplane hangers to large refrigeration warehouses. He also enjoyed remodeling homes and remodeled several of the family homes to live in over the years. Rex worked until he was 78. In his younger years when not working he enjoyed making life fun for his family, traveling, attending or watching Nascar races and helping others. Upon retiring he enjoyed cooking and, of course, the Atlanta Braves.

Rex is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Woodard, and his wife of almost 70 years, Sue Owens. He leaves behind to cherish his memories a son, Allen (Lisa) Owens and a daughter, Chanda (Darryl) Provost, seven grandchildren (Meagan, Mallory, Chelsea, Alayne, Zoeigh, Nicole,Sean), eight great-grandchildren (Owen, Emerson, Addi Grace, Rosie, Jace, Ava, Noah, Maddox) and many nieces and nephews.

Rex will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Sue, in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, MI.
