Regina Yvonne
Thurman
Jun 28, 1966 — Aug 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Regina Yvonne Thurman, age 60, who departed this life to be with the Lord on August 26, 2026, in her longtime hometown of Athens, TN, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Myra. Born on June 28, 1966, Regina graced the world with her presence as the cherished daughter of Ernest "Buddy" Thurman and Jewell Spurling Thurman.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, Regina dedicated her working years to the Niota Textile Mills, where she was known for her unwavering spirit and strong work ethic. As a member of the Athens Free Saints True Holiness Church, she found a second family within her community and shared her faith with those around her.
Regina will be profoundly missed by her beloved daughter, Myra Inez Thurman; her sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Rene (Peaka) Widdis; her niece, Chelsea Thurman; and treasured friends Norman and Barbara Shock, Becky Duncan, Richard, Roo, and Leela, and Gil and Terry Nunez. She now joins her father, Buddy, her mother, Jewell, and her brother, Tony, in eternal rest.
Throughout her life, Regina took joy in the simple pleasures. Whether she was cherishing her pets, especially her loyal companion Ebony, indulging in thrift shopping, or immersing herself in crafts and puzzles, she radiated warmth and creativity. Her heart was most full when spent with family, creating memories that will forever echo in the lives she touched.
To honor Regina's life and legacy, a memorial service will be held at a future date, with details to be announced as her family finalizes arrangements. We invite all who knew and loved Regina to gather in remembrance, sharing stories and photos that capture her spirit. In the meantime, online condolences and memories may be shared with her family at www.companionfunerals.com.
