Reed Clayton "R.C." Truelove, 85, of Englewood, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on April 5, 2026.
Born on August 2, 1940, to the late Leonard "L.J." and Roxie Truelove, Reed was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a dedicated businessman, owning and operating Reed's Printing Service for over 30 years. Reed had a deep appreciation for classic cars and took great pride in his 1964 Chevy Impala and 1980 MGB. He also enjoyed attending auctions and estate sales, where he found joy in collecting antiques. In his later years, Reed cherished his mornings at Tom Thumb in Etowah, sharing breakfast and fellowship with friends.
Reed will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Reed was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Solsbee Truelove; parents, Leonard "L.J." and Roxie Truelove; siblings, Betty Freeman, Dewey Wayne Truelove, and Vernon Truelove; and son in-law, Jim Long.
Survivors include his children, Lisa Long and David (Beth) Truelove; grandchildren, Jessie (Ben) Kendrick and Abbie (Joseph) Gray; great grandchildren, Avera and Sutton Gray and Ellie Kendrick; siblings, Virgil Truelove and Frances Fijal; and many nieces, nephews and other loved family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2026 at 7:00pm at Companion Funeral Home of Athens with Pastor David Graybeal officiating the service. A Visitation will be held prior at 5:00pm until the service time. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Companion Funeral Home of Athens at 10:00am on Thursday, April 9, 2026, and travel in procession to Mars Hill Methodist Cemetery in Englewood, where the service will begin at 11:00am and will be officiated by David Jackson.
The family warmly invites anyone with a classic car to join the procession from the funeral home.
