Peter Kosse III

Peter James Kosse III, age 77, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2026, at Sweetwater Hospital.

Peter was born on February 20, 1948, in Chincoteague, Virginia, to the late Peter James Kosse II and Marcella Banks Kosse.

Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 24 years. Upon his honorable discharge, he had earned numerous medals in recognition of his accomplishments during his distinguished career as a Naval officer.

In his free time, Peter enjoyed playing golf and was an accomplished golfer at Mouse Creek Golf Club. He will be fondly remembered for his love of the game and the friendships he formed on the course.

In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Kosse.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Terry Kosse; seven children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. He will also be deeply missed by his friends, especially his close golfing buddy, Dom.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and announced by the family.
