Peggy Ann Walton

Peggy Ann (Goens) Walton, 89, of Cleveland, TN, walked through the gates of Heaven and into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, June 29, 2026. She said, "When I see Him I'm going to wrap my arms around Him and give Him a great BIG HUG!" So she did. She has now joined her husband of 69 years, Frank, in their Heavenly home for eternity. Frank and Peggy were a testament that you're never too old to receive the free gift of salvation.

She was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Salem, Va, the fourth child of the late Loyd A. and Evelyn (Cox) Goens. She was a graduate of Salem High School. After marrying a Navy serviceman, she lived in several states, making wherever he was stationed their home. Peggy worked in food service in the San Diego, CA and Hamilton County school systems. Her favorite job was working for Fresh Market.

A fantastic cook, she found joy in having her family gather around the table for a delicious meal. She dearly loved traveling to her favorite place, Hawaii (nine times), Canada, Hong Kong, Bahamas, Mexico, and too many states to count.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Wilson; son, Steve (Michelle) Walton; grandson, Brandon (Lora) Wilson; and furbaby, Meiling.

In addition to her husband, Frank and her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her sister Jean; brothers, Loyd Jr., Ronald Lee and Douglas; Son in law, Clarence Wilson and several nieces and a nephew.

A faithful member of Lakewood Baptist Church, her Pastor Ronnie Gilbert will officiate the Graveside Service. He will be assisted by Associate Pastors Andrew McGowin and Seth Pyles. This service will be Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 1:00 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

She had the most beautiful smile, and even though we will miss her and that smile, we rejoice in knowing she is healed and happy. We will see her again Mom, Nanny and Sweet Friend
