At 3:22 on March 27th, Peggy Murphy Gross aka Peggy, Mother, Grandma, Aunt Peggy & Ms. Peggy, went to Heaven to be with Jesus. She was the life of every party and loved by so many. We will miss her laugh, her smile and her kidding. She lived a wonderful life. Heaven just got a little louder.
Peggy was born on May 25, 1937 to Harry & Icie Gates Murphy. She was the youngest of 8 siblings – Andrew Murphy, Ethel Murphy Vaughn, Violet Murphy Trotter, Paul Murphy, Donald Murphy, Geneva Murphy Ray & Mervin Murphy. She was a very active girl who loved to climb trees and play with her nieces & nephews. She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1956. She loved her friends and classmates and stayed in touch with them throughout her life.
Peggy met Lonnie Pat Gross in October of 1960 while she was visiting her sister’s family in Jesup, Georgia. Lonnie was in the Army stationed at Ft. Stewart. They went on their first date on Jeckyl Island and they were married in Cleveland on July 1, 1961. They had a beautiful relationship and were blessed to travel to all 50 States. They were married for almost 65 years.
Peggy taught Pre-School at First Baptist Family Life Center for 25 years. She loved children and was an excellent teacher. Many students and parents were impacted by Ms. Peggy and she was very loved. She was blessed to be able to teach long enough to teach the children of several of her former students.
Peggy & Lonnie had one child, Bart. She was a very loving and devoted Mother. She never missed a football or baseball game or practice. She was his biggest fan. In January of 2002, Bart married Katherin Roldan from Montevideo Uruguay. She was a loving and giving mother-in-law.
Then in January of 2009, GOD answered one of Peggy’s biggest prayers, she became a Grandma. Gianna, Mia & Emma were the pride and joy of her life. Grandma was the role she was born to play. She loved having her Granddaughters spend the night with her. She knew all their favorite foods and snacks and loved hosting them. She was a very loving and involved Grandma and her Granddaughters loved her too.
Peggy was born-again when she was a little girl. She loved GOD with all her heart and spent the early hours of the morning reading her Bible. Her Bible is marked all over where GOD had spoken to her and answered prayers. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 30 years. She loved church and her Sunday School Class. She never wanted to miss. She loved Jesus and, now, she is with Him every day.
