Patricia Ann Staggs
August 8, 1937 - June 6, 2025
Patricia Ann Staggs, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 8, 1937, she was the second of six children of Clarence Allen and Lucille Belle Tripp.
A devoted member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Decatur, Tennessee, Pat was known for her kind heart and thoughtful spirit. She faithfully sent cards to those who were ill, grieving, or simply in need of encouragement-always finding ways to let others know they were missed and loved.
Pat had a deep love for her family and a servant's heart. She found joy in simple pleasures: working in her flower beds, sewing, reading, and most of all, creating beautiful handmade quilts that she generously gave to family, friends, and even acquaintances. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her loved ones and serving her Lord.
Pat raised four children of her own and lovingly embraced four stepchildren as her own. Her life was a testament to faith, kindness, and selfless love. While her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lewis Staggs; her parents, Clarence and Lucille Tripp; siblings Anna Bradley, Phyllis Sink, Lawrence Tripp, and William Tripp; her children, Jeannine Lea and Jimmy Smith; and her granddaughter, Amy Patricia Torres.
She is survived by her children: Kathy Torres of Georgia; David Smith; Theresa Caldwell (Troy) of Decatur, TN; Sheila Standridge (Ricky) of Decatur, TN; Allen Staggs (Vicki) of Ocoee, TN; and Melinda Sneed (Joe Green) of Decatur, TN. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Her beloved sister, Becky Kopczeck (Carl) of New Baltimore, MI, and her dear friend and shopping companion, Bonnie Standridge, also survive her, along with a large extended family and many close friends.
Affectionately known as "Pat" or "Patsy," she will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and compassionate spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Decatur, TN, with Reverend Mike Rymer officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. A graveside service for both Grady and Pat Staggs will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Pat and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Athens, TN, and the Cody family are honored to assist her family with these arrangements.
