Obituary
Oskar Lehotsky, 74, of Hiawassee, GA, died on Friday, August 31, 2012, due to a massive stroke. Oskar is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elisabeth Star Lehotsky, his son and daughter-in-law John & Lisa Lehotsky, his brother Peter Lehotsky, his sister Gisi Czimer, his 5 grandchildren: Daniel, Craig, Stephanie, Mary & Sammy, along with numerous other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Dorothy Peterson.
Oskar was born in Novi Sad, Serbia (former Yugoslavia) in 1938 to Rudolf and Maria Lehotsky. He remained a refugee in Germany until 1957. He immigrated to the US in 1957 where he met Elisabeth Star and they married in 1959. Oskar became a US citizen in 1962 after the required waiting period and then proudly served in the US Army from1963-1965. His daughter, Dorothy was born in 1965 and his son, John, in 1967. Oskar retired from M&M Mars in 1993. He spent the rest of his life in what he called “God’s Country”, Hiawassee, GA, in the dream home built by himself and his son John.
Oskar’s interests included church, family, working with Lehotsky & Sons Properties, bowling, traveling, and boating. He also served as a deacon, choir member, master usher, and video & TV broadcaster at his local church.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September, 18, 2012 at 1:00pm at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, 84 Church Street, Hiawassee, GA.
