In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 28, 2026, Norma Lois Moore, 93, passed away peacefully and was escorted to Heaven to be with Jesus for eternity.
Norma was born October 1, 1932, the fourth of five daughters, to Otis Lee Fitch and Gertrude Manley Fitch. She loved all of her family, but was definitely a daddy's girl. Norma was quick-witted with a good sense of humor, and fiery red hair. She was raised in the Thrasher Pike area of Soddy Daisy, and the family attended Daisy Church of God. Norma loved to play outside, ride her bike, and was quite mischievous by nature. She was skilled in soft ball and during the time she worked at American Lava, she played on the company's team. Norma was a talented artist and generously shared things she made with others. She enjoyed arts and crafts including painting, crochet, and sewing. Norma married William Downey with whom she had three children; Melanie E. Spires, Connie I. Zalabak and William Mark Downey. After they divorced, Norma moved from Nashville to East Ridge, Tennessee where she established her own successful business as a beautician. While in East Ridge, Norma met and married Jack W. Moore and gained two additional sons, Troy and David Moore. Norma loved Jesus. She was a dedicated intercessor who prayed regularly for her family and friends. She and Jack were faithful members of East Ridge Church of God for many years where they traveled extensively with the Senior Adults. Later, they became faithful members of Ooltewah Church of God.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack W. Moore; daughter, Connie Zalabak; stepson, Troy Moore; sisters, Earline Howard, Dorothy Nowlin, and Joyce Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Melanie (Charles) Spires, Georgetown, TN; William Mark Downey, Afton, TN; David (Sheila) Moore, EastRidge, TN; Michael Zalabak, Niota, TN; grandchildren, Shannon Powell, Troy, AL; Stevan (Tiffany) Davis, Huntsville, AL;
April Wilborn; Dean Gravitt; Daniel Gravitt; Joshua Estes; T.J. Moore; Aaron Moore; also ten great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Fitzgerald, Soddy Daisy, and many nieces, nephews, and loyal friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on August 28, 2026 in the Chapel at Companion Funeral Home and Crematory, 2412 Georgetown Road, N.W., Cleveland Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm with service to follow at 4:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by her Pastor, Willard Griffin, Jr. of Ooltewah Church of God. In lieu of flowers, you may want to consider a donation to a local foundation who assists severely wounded veterans. Donations can be made in Norma's name to:
