Nicholas (Nick) Rodney Herron, born on October 30, 1940, in Imboden, VA, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026. He was a beloved husband to Nola Faye (Goodman) Herron.
Nick was known for his delicious homemade peanut butter fudge. Family and friends frequently requested this sweet treat during the holidays. He loved making those around him laugh and smile.
Nick retired in October 2006 and moved to Palatka, FL, in 2007. He spent many of his happiest moments fishing and shrimping on his dock in Florida, fulfilling his dream of "fishing all day". He could often be found relaxing in his recliner, keeping an eye on his fishing poles once the heat of the day became unbearable. An avid reader, he mostly enjoyed westerns. He had a passion for University of Tennessee sports, especially football and enjoyed talking with his brothers often about UT sports. Prior to his health declining, he looked forward to gathering with friends every Tuesday at Westmore Church for a fun game of cards and jokes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Herron and Rosa (Seals) Herron; brothers, Martin (Tommy) Herron and Gary Herron; and daughter, Robin Herron Conrad.
He is survived by siblings, Phillip (Roger) and wife Phyllis Herron, Roy (Pete) Herron, Carolyn and husband Dick Baker, and Sylvia Herron; children Rhonda (Russ) Herron McConnell, Don Childress and Nolette Childress Rose; grandchildren Sarah (Drew) Howell, Christopher Guffy, Erica (Kody) Pugh, Hannah Rose, and Oden Rose and 4 great grandchildren; as well as 13 nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Adoration Church 52 Old Airport Rd Bristol, VA 24201
