Nettie Ella Stokes Price, 88, of Decatur, TN flew away to be with Jesus on January 22, 2019 at Morning Point Assisted Living in Athens, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Price. He was a veteran of World War II and she was very proud of his service to our country. Her parents, James S. Stokes and her mother Ollie Bell Warf Stokes. Her brothers James Russell, Marvin and Charles Curtis Stokes of Decatur. Her sisters Reba Cordell, Mattie Bowman, and JoAnn Stokes. Nettie is survived by her daughters Carolyn Jones (Ralph) of Decatur, TN, Joyce Ricker (Robert) of Decatur, TN, Debra Gregory (Richard) of Athens, TN, Tommie Vaughn (Edward) of Athens, TN and Tammie Dockery of Athens, TN. Her brothers Gene Allen Stokes (Earlene) and Gordon Leon Stokes of Lenior City, TN and one sister Betty Dyer of Kingsport, TN. Nettie has 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Nettie was a member of several Baptist churches in Meigs Country over her years, Calvary, Five Point, Shiloh and Bethsadia. For the last five years she was ministered to very lovingly by the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Nettie was retired from Thomas and Betts after 31 years as a welder. She was a very happy smiling lady who made all who came her way feel welcomed and accepted into her life. She enjoyed her last years at Morning Point where she made many new friends and became a very good bingo player. She loved each one that cared for her there. The family appreciates everyone that helped to make her last days enjoyable.
A celebration of her life is planned for Friday, January 25, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist of Decatur located 240 Main Street in Decatur, TN with the Reverend Jamey Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until the 3:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow the service in the Mt. View Cemetery with Steve Jones, Walter Sitzler, Andy Jones, Allen Bowman, Curtis Walden, Terry Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bolme and all grandsons.
