Neil Olsen

Neil Herman Olsen, age 86, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. "It is well with my soul" was his final testament of faith and peace.

Neil was born on January 7, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, to Herman and Edna Olsen. From an early age, he showed a strong work ethic and a curious mind. He also developed a deep and abiding faith in God that guided him through every season of life.

On April 17, 1960, Neil married his devoted wife, Sandra Carlo. They walked through life's joys and challenges hand in hand. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, rooted in love, faith, and family.

Neil lived his life as a reflection of God's love. He led by quiet example, teaching those around him the beauty of hard work, grace, and compassion. Neil found joy in simple blessings-family gatherings, a good puzzle, and time spent in God's word. His gentle humor and warm smile left a lasting imprint on every heart he touched. His hands built many things as a talented carpenter and millwright, but his greatest work was the love he built within his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his three children, Carla (Owen) Anderson, Eric (Michele) Olsen, and Missy (Craig) Ammerall; seven grandchildren, Chad, Ryan, Gabi (Austin), Dominique (Simon), Gunnar, Ian, and Kayden (Bryce); four great-granddaughters, Zoe, Navy, Lennon, and Ozzy; his sister, Carol (Timothy) Loughlin; along with many nieces and nephews. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and faith will continue to guide and comfort those who knew him.

In accordance with Neil's wishes, no public service will be held. The family will honor his life privately. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
