Nancy Jane
Rashotte
January 13, 1939 – March 2, 2026
Nancy Jane Rashotte, 87, of Decatur TN, fell asleep in death on March 2, 2026, after complications from a fall, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born on January 13, 1939 in Bay City, MI , daughter of the late Edward and Julia Norlock (Verbowski)
Nancy married the love of her life, Arthur William Rashotte , from Standish , MI on October 29, 1955. Together they were married 52 years, and raised five children on their country farm in Melita, MI .
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband (Arthur William Rashotte) her son (Daniel W. Rashotte) her son in law (Ronald K. Urbaniak) her two grandchildren (Jeff Myers) and (Lucas Rashotte) and her great granddaughter (Cheyenne Rashotte).
Nancy is survived by her sister (MaryAnn Nichols) , her son (John Rashotte), her daughter (Lorrie Urbaniak), her son (Steven Rashotte (Rossella) , her daughter (Lisa Schuette (Tim), her beloved grandchildren , Heidi, Vanessa, Misti, Amorelle, Arnie , Brennan, Brielle, Johnathon, Kasandra, Joseph , Nicki and 17 great grand children.
Nancy lived in Michigan for 70 years until the Autumn of 2009 when she moved to the southern State of Carolina, to live with her son, Steven. Her last few years residing in Decatur, TN.
She loved her visits to Michigan in the summers where the rummage sales were abundant, spending time with her friends , grandchildren, and Buddy her dog . But many new friendships in the South formed on her life's journey, and she soon became loved and known as Granny to all. Rummage sales, antique shopping, painting, making jewelry, crafting with little ones, her favorite store Staples, senior days at Goodwill stores, and lunches out, were her loved activities.
Sharing her poetry was her passion , and when her sight declined, picture books became her way of encouraging others. Not a day passed without her scissors in hand as she clipped out pictures from calendars, magazines and greeting cards to create her own picture books to share, despite straining to see.
As a gifted Poet , and published author, Nancy was most proud of being one of Jehovah's witnesses since her baptism in 1972. Using her poetry to speak of her faith, her resurrection hope , the bibles promise of the Paradise soon to be restored on the Earth, and to teach others God's name is JEHOVAH as found in the holy scriptures at
Psalm 83:18 "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
A very special heartfelt thank you to all her dear family & friends who assisted her thru her life, (as she did not drive). Your love and assistance made her life joyful, and blessed with wonderful friendships. We are especially appreciative of all her caretakers during her last months with Hospice of Chattanooga, TN, and final days at the GENTLE HANDS Personal Care Home, in Chattanooga, TN.
